On 11 January 2007 the US prison camp at Guantanamo Bay will have been in operation for five years. Over 750 people have been subjected to arbitrary and indefinite imprisonment and torture and none have been released as a result of the legal process. Of those who have been released, none have subsequently been charged. The National Guantanamo Coalition will be marking this day with two events. Join the London Guantanamo Campaign and its supporters as we mark this day with a vigil outside Downing Street demanding the closure of the prison. Date: Wednesday 10th January 2007 Venue: Downing Street, London Time: 6pm For more information please contact: London_gitmo@yahoo.co.uk /07961033271 Source link: www.cageprisoners.com/campaigns.php?id=438

The story of Sean Baker, a US soldier who was undercover in the camp and received hospitalizing injuries, is just one that is particularly enlightening: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sean_Baker

Oh my word, has it been this long?! I am just as bad as the next person in forgetting what has gone in previous years, but this does need to be addressed.
Forgive me for being so dumb, but how has the US been able to keep people locked up, without charge, and the UN has not got involved? This is obviously a violation of human rights, but how come no main body, like the UN, has not got involved?
