DJEVARA "THE RISING TIDE Pt 2 - HEAR NO EVIL" (GENIN REDORDS) RELEASED? 24th January. SOUNDS LIKE? Now, we all know that rabble-rousing purists like the Manics began by carving their lyrics into their own flesh and were last seen as a flabby backing track for a fat, lesbian-denial fascist. Not a fate that lurks in wait for Djevara. Djevara are unlikely to generate the piles of cash that seduced other unbending, principled riff wranglers. Oh no, Djevara are actually quite poppy, in a Green Day being very cross kind of way. They're also packing an instinctive knack for classic hard rock song construction, "Most Of The People, Most Of The Time" being a nifty showcase for their contemporary thrashola gatecrashing a Black Sabbath playback, "I've never felt so much alive" they yelp into the fade and that's me sold. IS IT ANY GOOD? Good isn't a word to be wheeled out when magnificent is still available. Djevara, right here, right now, are magnificent. We've not mentioned the contents of, or the causes that populate the Djevara manifesto, but it'd be great if you sampled the noise, the rest is up to you and them, play nicely. link: unpeeled.net/albums.html
